Chile: Chilean Seafood Tradition

Chile's extensive coastline along the Pacific Ocean has made seafood an essential part of its cuisine. The influence of indigenous cultures, along with European colonization, shaped a seafood tradition that continues today, with Chile’s central and southern regions known for their rich marine life.

Culinary Tradition: Chilean seafood dishes often highlight the freshest catches from the Pacific. "Caldillo de congrio" (conger eel soup), "paila marina" (seafood stew), and "curanto" (a traditional seafood and meat dish steamed in a pit) are popular. Fish such as salmon, sea bass, and congrio are commonly prepared grilled, fried, or in stews.
