Spicy Mussels Saganaki with Feta & Tomato Recipe
This classic Greek-inspired dish showcases tender mussels cooked in a rich, spicy tomato sauce, enhanced with the salty creaminess of feta cheese. Mussels Saganaki is a delightful seafood meal perfect for sharing, served with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg fresh mussels, cleaned
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 400g can chopped tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp chilli flakes
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1 tsp sugar
- 150g feta cheese, crumbled
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
- Crusty bread, for serving
Instructions:

1 Cook the Onion & Garlic
Heat olive oil in a large pan and sauté the onion and garlic until softened.

2 Make the Tomato Sauce
Add chopped tomatoes, chilli flakes, white wine, and a pinch of sugar to the pan. Simmer for 10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

3 Cook the Mussels
Add the cleaned mussels to the pan, cover, and cook for 5-6 minutes until the mussels open.

4 Finish with Feta
Stir in crumbled feta cheese, allow it to melt slightly, and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot with crusty bread.
