Golden Prawn Cakes with Lemon Herb Aioli Recipe
These golden prawn cakes are crispy on the outside, tender and flavour-packed on the inside. Made with juicy prawns, fresh herbs, and zesty spices, they’re perfect as a starter, main, or even a snack. Serve them with a refreshing lemon herb aioli for a delicious seafood dish that’s sure to impress.
Ingredients:
- 500g raw prawns, peeled and deveined
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 spring onions, finely chopped
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh herbs (parsley or dill)
- Lemon wedges
Instructions:

1 Prepare the Prawn Mixture
Finely chop the prawns and combine them in a bowl with garlic, spring onions, breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon zest, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the ingredients bind together.

2 Shape and Cook the Prawn Cakes
Form the mixture into small patties. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and cook the patties in batches, frying for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.

3 Prepare the Lemon Herb Aioli & Serve
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic, and fresh herbs. Serve alongside the warm prawn cakes with extra lemon wedges for garnish.
