Salmon in Tangy Tamarind Broth Recipe
Ever tried a tamarind salmon soup? This hearty dish blends the richness of salmon with a tangy tamarind broth that’s packed with fresh veggies. It’s a perfect comfort food that’s easy to make and packed with flavour.
Ingredients:
- 500g salmon fillets, cut into portions
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, quartered
- 1 radish, sliced
- 1 small eggplant, sliced
- 100g okra, whole
- 1 handful green beans, trimmed
- 2 cups water spinach or regular spinach
- 1 litre water
- 2 tbsp tamarind paste
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
- Salt, to taste
Instructions:

1 Prepare the broth
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add tamarind paste and stir until dissolved. Toss in the tomatoes, onion, and radish, cooking for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables soften.

2 Add vegetables
Stir in the eggplant and okra. Simmer for another 5 minutes, allowing the vegetables to cook through and the broth to develop its tangy flavour.

3 Cook the salmon
Add the salmon pieces and green beans to the pot, simmering for 10 minutes until the fish is cooked and flakes easily. Season with fish sauce and salt, and garnish with fresh spinach or water spinach before serving.
