  • 700g medium whole baby squid or 500g squid tubes, cleaned
  • 2/3 cup cornflour
  • 1/3 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper
  • 2/3 cup cold tap water
  • Oil for frying


  1. Prepare the Squid

    Thoroughly clean and cut the squid into rings or strips. Score the inner side to allow better batter absorption.

    In a bowl, combine cornflour, plain flour, baking powder, and white pepper. Gradually add cold water until the batter is smooth. Dip the squid pieces into the batter, ensuring each piece is well coated.
