Spicy Prawn and Thai Basil Stir-Fry Recipe
This quick and fiery Spicy Prawn and Basil Stir-Fry is a bold Thai-inspired dish that combines tender prawns with aromatic garlic, chilli, and fresh basil. It's perfect for a weeknight dinner when you crave something both spicy and savoury. Serve it with steamed jasmine rice or noodles to soak up the rich, flavourful sauce.
Ingredients:
- 500g large prawns, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 bird’s eye chillies, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 50ml water
- 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
- Steamed jasmine rice, to serve
Instructions:

1 Prepare the Prawns
Heat oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and chillies, stir-frying until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Toss in the prawns and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque.

In a small bowl, whisk together the oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and water. Pour the sauce over the prawns, stirring to coat evenly. Let the sauce simmer and reduce slightly for 1-2 minutes.

Stir in the Thai basil leaves and cook until just wilted. Remove from heat and garnish with extra basil if desired. Serve immediately with jasmine rice.
