With a golden, crunchy coating and tender, juicy squid inside, this dish is sure to be a hit with family and friends. Serve it as an appetiser, a snack, or even a main course with a side of fresh salad.

Ingredients:

  • 500g calamari rings
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish
  • Dipping sauce of choice (aioli or marinara)

Instructions:

    Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat dry. In separate bowls, place seasoned flour, whisked eggs, and a mixture of breadcrumbs, paprika, and garlic powder. Dredge the calamari in flour, dip in eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs.

  2. Fry the Calamari

    Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or deep fryer to 180°C. Fry the calamari in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain.

    Arrange the crispy calamari on a serving platter. Garnish with lemon wedges and fresh parsley. Serve immediately with your favourite dipping sauce, such as aioli or marinara.
